E Kanikapila Kākou Returns In-Person

Mar 21, 2022

E Kanikapila Kākou 2022

After nearly two years of no music/no event/no in-person events, E Kanikapila Kākou (EKK) kicked off on March 21st, 2022!

EKK usually hosts 60% visitors and 40% locals; but for this first kick-off event, majority of our island residents came out in attendance, bedecked in Hawaiian attire, lei and the ever-present mask…just to be on the safe side.

This opening night of EKK was kicked off by the effervescent and leo nahenahe of Natalie Ai Kamauu, accompanied by her talented husband ‘Iolani Kamauu and their amazing ‘ohana.

EKK has been, is and will always be a celebration of our Hawaiian culture.  And this first night of EKK 2022 was no exception.  The love for Hawaiian music and dance could be felt by all in attendance and it was evident in the smiles and laughter of having EKK back as an in-person event and everyone anxiously anticipating what the rest of the EKK season will bring.

The upcoming EKK events featured the following talented local musicians:

-Michael Pili Pang & Hālau Hula Ka No‘eau Hula Academy

-Led Kaapana with Jesse Gregorio

-Kūpaoa & Ke Ala Aumoe Hula Dancers

-‘Ōiwi – John Mahi, Bronson Aiwohi, DJ Kawaiola Yaris

-Community Hula Night with Mālie Foundation featuring Kumu Maka Herrod, Kumu Wailana Dasalia-Duarte, Waipu‘ilani Flores, and Kumu Troy Allen Hinano Lazaro

-Concert: “Legacy of our Legends” hosted by Makana
