Oʻahu DMAP supports the 2023 Hawaiʻi Commute Challenge: Go Multimodal!

Jul 28, 2023

Did you know nearly 70% of Hawaiʻi's commuters choose to drive alone?

Participate in the 2023 Hawaiʻi Commute Challenge from August 1 through 31 to lessen traffic, combat climate change, and help Oʻahu achieve our state and county goals of becoming carbon-neutral by 2045.  Each week, you’ll be challenged to walk, bike, bus, carpool, or hop on public transit to earn points for chances to win prizes! Reduce your use of being a single-occupancy vehicle driver throughout the month of August.  Register today and form a team! Make it extra fun by challenging your friends, family, and coworkers to see who can score the most points!

With this participation, we hope our tourism industry workforce will become sustainable transportation ambassadors when interacting with our visitors and encourage them to also try new sustainable modes of transportation when visiting Oʻahu.

This commute challenge supports Action I of the O‘ahu Destination Management Action Plan (DMAP), which promotes multimodal transportation usage to alleviate traffic and encourage a sustainable mode shift among visitors to Oʻahu.

We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Blue Planet Foundation on this initiative, and we hope our Oʻahu community discovers new ways to commute!

Anyone can participate in this statewide challenge, so register for free today at https://bit.ly/3PCzugH!
